Parry Sound is sure to be a buzz of activity on February 14 – February 17
Winter Carnival fun for an entire weekend!
Start off your weekend right after work Friday at 6 by heading on over to the Stockey Centre for a dinner and dance featuring the Sunny Slope Bootleggers
But don’t oversleep the next morning because you don’t want to miss the pancake breakfast in Humphrey on Saturday beginning at 8 am.
This year marks the 36th anniversary of the Seguin Sled Dog Mail Run,
Every year since 1985, “sledvelopes” with letters prepared especially for this event, are gathered, loaded onto sleds and hauled by several dog teams to Rosseau, Ontario, 17 km through the bush on groomed trails. Teams gather and leave from the Village of Humphrey, Ontario, on Highway 141, to the cheers and good wishes from the many spectators and friends as the teams disappear in the bush on their way to the Rosseau Post Office to be received by the Post Mistress.
After enjoying the Sled Dogs spend some time at the Museum on Tower Hill:
The Museum will be running a drop-in workshop where individuals can come paint their very own unique fish! The Museum on Tower Hill and the Parry Sound Coast Guard Base have teamed up to decorate the fence along the Fitness Trail with these wooden fish.
