Use these tips to stay warm and comfortable all winter long:
Install a programmable thermostat
Choose a setting on the low end when you’re sleeping and go with a higher setting at other times.
Let sunlight in during the day
Heat from the sun is free so make the most of it!
Move furniture away from vents
This sounds like a no-brainer, but check that nothing is blocking the flow of heat into the room.
Use the oven
This is the time to start baking!
Reflect the heat
Radiator panels are relatively cheap, easy to install, and ensure that heat from your radiators warms up your room. They work by reflecting the heat back into the room.
Use Rugs
Rugs not only work to style a room, but they also do a good job of keeping your feet toasty if you have tile or hardwood flooring
Is the Furnace Filter Filthy?
The most common cause of heating troubles. Change the filter and the problem usually disappears.
Reverse Ceiling Fans
If you have ceiling fans, reverse the motion so they are moving clockwise. This will help move warm air downward to keep you warm.
Seal your doors
Check around the door frame and also under the door. Install weather stripping or a door sweep.
Close off any unused rooms
The closed door makes that room another barrier between you and the outdoors. It also stops air from circulating as much, which reduces heat loss.
Work the Drapes
Once the sun goes down, keep all that heat from leaving through the windows by closing the drapes.
Add insulation in the attic and the crawl space
A lot of heat escapes through the attic, as warm air rises.
If all else fails…..wrap yourself in a blanket 🙂
